Project #59: Useless Stock Photos Used

Actually already started here.

Like I need another silly tumblr.

Sigh.

Project #58: Sci-Fi/Horror/Fantasy Sketch Show

As stated before, I lack sketch writing skills. I’m working on it. Not because I have a mad desire to write sketches… but I think it is good talent that actually fine tunes other writing skills. (And there is the whole thing about sketch shows and sketch videos being easier to produce than say a full length play or a even a twenty-two minute tv show.)

A while ago I had an idea for a 30 second tv ad. I lost it when I lost my laptop… and I am guessing it wasn’t that funny. But that one bit has sort of settled in my brain and a few other ideas have popped up. I need something firmer to tight stiff together… and it is missing a good center piece. But it does involve a vampire bookclub, Cthulhu, Voltron and organ theft.

So there is that.

Project #57: Sort Lego bricks

Project #56: Fanfic 2 - Slimers backstory

Yes. Slimer from Ghostbusters.

How the hell was he in life? I believe this is a story that needs to be told (that, really, no one whats to see).

Project #55: Fanfic 1 - How Did Spike Get His Jacket Back

I don’t know why this bothers me so much.

Ay the end of season 6 of Buffy, Spike leaves his jacket (the leather one he stole got after he killed Robin’s mom in the 70’s) on the banister of the Summer’s house. After that, Spike goes to Africa or wherever. When we see Spike again in the basement of the rebulit Sunnydale High at the beginning of season 7, he has his jacket again. And we know it’s the SAME jacket, because he gets very upset when it is destroyed at the end of season 5 of Angel.

How did he get it back? Did Buffy pack it up somewhere and Spike than stole it? Did Xander toss it? What’s up with that?

If anyone knows Joss or someone at Dark Horse, I’d like to pitch this story has a one-shot comic. (Thank you to Connor R. for suggesting that medium.)

Project #54: “TV, I Love You” Storytelling Show

Yes, yes. Storytelling is THE hot thing right now. I don’t like when I jump on any particular bandwagon, especially one with so many good shows out there right now (TOLD, The Moth and NY Confidential, to just name three). But I do it anyway. Sigh.

The key when I start thinking about these things are to approach things I love and feel passionately about. And one of those things is, well, TV.

The show would have a theme each month. But the “theme” would be a particular show or genre or some such. For example, I envision the first being “The World’s of Joss Whedon.” Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse. Hell, even Roseanne (although that might have to fit tighter to Joss). The stories would be personal (as most of the best storytelling stories are): an incident related to the show, what the show meant to the person, etc..

Other possible themes: TGIF, Saturday Mornings, Star Trek, Dawson’s Creek (I have no stories with this one but I know many people do), Reality, Soaps, Must See TV, Law & Order, etc..

Project #53: The Bard, Scripted and Not, Show

Nicole and I sort of watched the RSC’s Hamlet with David Tenant and Patrick Stewart yesterday and today. It was kinda blah. But, as always, got me thinking of two things - (1) doing Shakespeare with the talented performers I know (see #48) and (2) doing improvised Shakespeare (see #38).

My problem with 1 is that getting folks to commit to a full play with rehearsals and such would be nigh impossible. My problem with 2 (well, one problem) is that finding venues for genre improv is difficult.

So, a potential solution is combine the two: A show with performers doing scenes from Shakespeare they love and capping the show with a 30 minute improvised Shakespeare set. Feels like this might have an audience.

Project #52: Semi-secret project

I didn’t initiate this project so I’m not going to talk about it. But it is a fun thought project that might become something larger.

Either way, I’m studying this.

Project #51: Deconstructing A Deconstruction

A fairly famous (and lengthy) deconstruction of a famous series of movies needs a deconstruction. Mostly of its “bits.”

Project #50: This thing

Movie trailer.

And it is done.
